Julie Lea




Julie Lea is thrilled to be a principal artist for our national opera company,  Roles include: Maria in the spectacular outdoor production of West Side Story on Sydney Harbour as well as Musetta in La Boheme on Sydney Harbour which was also screened in arts cinemas globally and released by ABC classics onto DVD.


In theatre credits include Musetta in La Boheme, Madama Cortese in Il Viaggio a Reims,  Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro, Hannah Glavari in The Merry Widow, Princess Ninetta in The Love for Three Oranges, Voce del Ciel in Don Carlo and Woodbird in Siegfried for the Melbourne Ring Cycle. 

Australian productions include Wendy Whitely in a premier about the famous Australian painter Brett Whitely,  twin girls Girofle/Girofla in Two Weddings One Bride and Greta in Metamorphosis. 

Notable concert appearances with the company include Flower Maiden in Parsifal starring Jonas Kaufmann and a special visit to Tokyo city to perform beloved theatre tunes for Dr Handa.

Conducted by dynamo American conductor Keith Lockhart (Musical Director of the Boston Pops Orchestra), with featured performances from soprano Julie Lea Goodwin, British baritone Rodney Earl Clark, and leading violinist Ji Won Kim."

Starring Anthony Warlow, the evening featured beloved songs from stage musicals and opera, as well as a touch of jazz.  Conducted by Guy Noble.

Julie was delighted to perform in concert with maestro Guy Noble and trumpet extraordinaire James Morrison in Melbourne, 2013.



Throughout 2012 Julie Lea toured Australia performing the role of Grace in the much loved musical Annie.


She was thrilled to star along side music theatre greats Anthony Warlow, Nancy Hayes, Todd McKenny and Chloe Dallimore as well as radio legend Alan Jones. Julie was nominated for a Green Room Award for this role.
